SF Burmese Community's Charity Drive for the Rakhine People

“The San Francisco Burmese Community proves they will not forget the Rakhine people and the hardships they have gone through,” said Kyaw Thu of FFSS (Free Funeral Service Society) of Yangon. The San Francisco Burmese Community is helping the Rakhine people recover from the civil unrest they have faced. Donations contributed for this recovery effort have been raised by the Burmese Community in the San Francisco Bay Area.

 

$10,000 to $11,000 has been given to the capable hands of Kyaw Thu, head of FFSS.

 

The recipients were Kyaw Thu, Shwe Zee Gwut, Saung Oo Hlaing, and U Ye Lwin.  

 

On behalf of the Burmese people living in the Bay Area, a representative of SFBC said, “We will always remember the Rakhine people and we will always stand by them.”

 

 

Two Art Works by Artist Format

             One installation art work and One painting art work were photographed here.

1st one is captioned as “Energy” displaying one dead light-bulb and couple of black charcoal blocks in a reusable plastic bag.

 

 2nd one is captioned as “Dialogue” where words were written on the canvas itself together with bullet holes marks which was banned by Regime censorship board from showing to public.
